There is a hunt for Veratas, who I think is the first necro trainer you meet, but then you find out later what his intentions are, and they are not like oberans, which npc's were accusing him of

Ok well, all this talk about NPCs showing back up after the searing had me wondering about everyone else. So...I complied a list of most, if not all, of the NPCs and Merchants in pre-searing and where they can be found in post-searing. Hope you all don't mind.
Merchants
Arnaud - Ascalon City.
Elias - Frontier Gate.
Gram - Still at Fort Ranik.
Hamish - Ruins of Surmia.
Laren - Ascalon City, sporting a new hairdo.
Riley - Piken Square. With a completely different look.
Rolf - The Great Northern Wall.
Spence - Frontier Gate.
Sanura - Yak's Bend, again sporting a new look.
Vencel - Sardelac Sanitarium.
Other NPCs
Aidan - Henchman, found in Thunderhead Keep.
Alison the Tanner - Unknown, dead probably.
Annette Landru - Unknown - probably dead.
Armin Saberlin - Briefly in the Fort Ranik mission, and as Master Saberlin in Beacon's Perch.
Artemis the Ranger - She can be found in two places: Traveler's Vale and Iron Horse Mine.
Baron Egan - As the Guild Registrar in Ascalon City.
Ben Wolfson - Unknown, dead probably.
Brother Mhenlo - First seen in Eastern Frontier. Also can be found in Iron Horse Mines, North Kryta Province, and Skyward Reach, usually being yelled at by Cynn. He can be found as a henchman in Thunderhead Keep.
Captain Osric - Briefly in Ascalon City and Yaks Bend.
Chantalle the Troubadour - Unknown, probably dead.
Ciglo the Monk - Unknown, dead possibly. He was rather boring.
Cynn - First found in the Eastern Frontier. Also found in Iron Horse Mines, North Kryta Province, and Skyward Reach. She can also be found as a henchman in Thunderhead Keep.
Devona - First appearance in Pockmark Flats. Other known haunts: Eastern Frontier, North Kryta Province, and Skyward Reach. Later she can be found as a Henchman in Thunderhead Keep.
Duke Barradin - Piken Square.
Duke Gaban - Unknown. Dead?
Elementalist Aziure - Right outside of Ascalon City. Also, in pre-searing is "working" on a spell which we later find as a skill: Ward Against Elements.
Fadden Hathorn - Sardelac Sanitarium, hacing lost his marbles after the searing, poor guy.
Farmer Dirk - The Ascalon Settlement in Kryta. He's lost his piggy...again.
Farrah Cappo - Piken Square.
Gate Guard Torin - Unknown, probably dead.
Grazden the Protector - hanging outside of Sardelac Santitarium in Old Ascalon.
Gwen - Nobody knows for sure!
Haversdan - Unknown (to me at least...I haven't found him), but probably dead.
Howland the Elementalist - Yaks Bend.
Ivor Trueshot - Piken Square.
Jarrel the Tamer - Right outside of Ascalon City. As an interesting side-not, Jarrel is Ascalonian in pre-searing and obviously Krytan in post-searing.
Kasha Blackblood - Sardelac Sanitarium.
King Adelburn - First appears right outside of Ascalon City, arguing with Prince Rurik. Also found in the Academy of Nolani mission, and The Last Day Dawns quest.
Lady Althea - As a ghost in Diessa Lowlands.
Lina the Healer - Not Lina [Protector Henchman], they are different people. As for her fate, unknown...probably dead.
Little Thom - Henchman, found in Yaks Bend.
Lord Darrin - Still lording over Fort Ranik.
Marshall Richards - Unknown, but who cares? he didn't really have a purpose in pre-searing.
Mary Malone - Unknown, probably dead.
Meerak the Scribe - Known as Meerak the Shouter and can be found in Frontier Gate. If you watch his dialouge he tells you just about everything that will happen later on in the game.
Miller Upton - Unknown, probably dead.
Namar - Unknown, probably very dead.
Necromancer Munne - Sardelac Sanitarium.
Oberan the Reviled - You get to kill him in post-searing outside of Sardelac Sanitarium, mostly because he's a stupid git. :P
Old Mack - The Breach, near Piken Square, and Deldrimor Bowl, outside of Beacon's Perch.
Orion Elek - Unknown, but hopefully dead. :P
Paulus the Abbot - He dies in Regent Valley. Melka Blanston, another NPC, rather upset about this.
Pitney - Piken Square, worried about his buddy Old Mack.
Prince Rurik - Ruins of Surmia is the first time you come across our Prince again.
Ralena Stormbringer - She is meantioned as being ill by Vassar, but is never seen.
Ranger Master Nente - Old Ascalon near the Statue of Balthazar.
Sandre Elek - Unknown, dead most likely.
Sarah - Her ghost can be found in the Underworld, though she looks much different.
Sebedoh the Mesmer - Yaks Bend. Being as sarcastic as ever.
Sir Tydus - Ascalon City, sporting an eye patch, spikey shoulder pads, and a bad attitude.
Trina Yunn - Unknown, dead most likely.
Van the Warrior - Yaks Bend.
Vassar - Sardelac Sanitarium.
Verata the Necromancer - Traveler's Vale and, apparently, Kessex Peak. He also looks different from pre-searing to post-searing.
Warmaster Grast - Just outside of Ascalon City in Old Ascalon.
Wilton Payce - Unknown, probably dead...hopefully. :P
So, there you have it. I hope. If I left anything out feel free to correct me. My fingers hurt from all that typing! lol

Oh yeah. I believe there's a bandit named Torin. However, whether the Gate Guard crossed over to the *ahem* dark side or not, I've no idea.
How could oink be in Kryta, narrowly surviving the undead attack AND be roasting in Yak's Bend at the same time? Unless...PARALLEL UNIVERSES! Speaking of which, when is that pig in Yak's Bend going to be ready to eat? It's been months...

Yeah Gate Guard Torin and Bandit Torin are two different people, as far as I can tell. They look entirely different.

I'm going to pretend that Orion Elek and Orion the henchman are two different people. 1.) Because Orion Elek was a whiny push-over and 2.) because Little Thom, Devona, Cynn and the other heros who become henchmen don't lose any part of their name when they become henchies. Why wouldn't it be Orion Elek [Dumb Mage Henchman]...? I can't see any reason for the developers to suddenly drop the last name. So, two different people.

Ok groovy. I learned something new today. They still look like two different people to me though. But then again its been a long time since I've been in pre-searing...Oh well.

I could be wrong but I think Torin might be in one of the early missions. A bonus perhaps? I'm not positive I just seem to remember seeing his name elsewhere than the bandit Torin.
